March 18 Event: Guest Speaker Jacy Good, Hang Up and Drive Foundation
On May 19, 2008, Jacy Good rode in the passenger front seat of her parents’ car. She had just graduated from Muhlenberg College and she and her parents were returning home to celebrate. Her brother stayed behind to visit with friends. On the way to their home, a tractor trailer swerved to avoid a minivan that had turned against a red light. The tractor trailer swerved into the on-coming lane of traffic hitting the Good’s car head on. Mr. and Mrs. Jay Good were killed instantly. Trauma surgeons were rushed to the scene to help Jacy. She had a 10% chance of survival after 9 hours of surgery.
Officials reported the cause of the accident was that the minivan driver was talking on the phone. Jacy now travels the country telling her story of recovery and on a mission to get people to Hang Up and Drive-the name of her foundation.
