A Message from our President and Principal

On behalf of the Holy Cross Community, we pray for the families of George Floyd in Minnesota, Ahmaud Arbery in Georgia, Breona Taylor in Kentucky, Steven Taylor in California, Dreasjon Reed in Indianapolis, Tony McDade in Florida, and Adrian Medearis in Houston as they continue to grapple with their tragic and horrible loss. Current events signify that there is still much needed to be done for our nation to come together and unite in the face of racism, and embody the values of justice and equality.

One of the many values steeped in the charism of the Congregation of Holy Cross, founded by Blessed Fr. Basil Moreau, C.S.C. nearly 200 years ago, stems from our Catholic faith and the firm belief in the sanctity of human life. At this time of unrest following the unfathomable death of George Floyd and so many others, we stand united with all those who peacefully protest and demand change. As a community, we condemn the looting and acts of violence performed by a select few which detracts from the call of justice and equality for all. We also gratefully acknowledge the sacrifice made by those dedicated law enforcement members, and their families, who commit themselves to serve our communities while placing themselves in harm’s way.

We all can learn something of great significance from Jesus’ sacrifice for humanity. Mr. Jon Meacham in his recent book, The Hope of Glory, explains how the outstretched arms of Christ on the Cross represent an embrace of all humanity. We remain dedicated to the Mission of educating the hearts and minds of young men and women, regardless of race or creed. It is oftentimes the most difficult conversations are the most necessary to have, and our school’s leadership is committed to continuing the conversation with our students, and urging our families to do the same at home.

Black lives matter, and we stand with all the schools sponsored by the Congregation of Holy Cross around the world in prayer and support for the needed changes in our society to respect and care for all people.

Ave Crux, Spes Unica
