Europe Trip Letter – from Mr. McRae – 3/20/20

Dear Parents:

We hope this letter finds you and your families well during these trying times. 

Just wanted to pass along an update regarding what families need to do in order to work through the cancellation process with Explorica. You’ll need to contact them directly to complete this process, and, unfortunately, this will likely require patience since I am sure they’re handling an extremely high call volume at the moment. 

Their main phone number is 1 (888) 310-7120. They’ve also set up a dedicated line for questions regarding the COVID-19 outbreak at 1 888-963-8324. I’m not entirely sure which one of these numbers will work best regarding cancellations and questions, but those are the contact points they have provided to us. 

We have notified Explorica that we will obviously not be traveling at this time and have postponed the trip to next school year’s spring break (April 1-11, 2021). This puts the options we discussed in our previous communication into play. 

If your son is a JUNIOR who will attend Holy Cross next year and you still feel comfortable with him staying on the trip for the postponed dates (currently April 1-11, 2021) you have to DO NOTHING. Spots automatically transfer to next year’s trip. 

If your son is a SENIOR who will be graduating in June OR if your son is a junior and you DO NOT WISH TO TRAVEL next year then you can call Explorica and ask for the MODIFIED CANCELLATION POLICY. 

This cancellation policy provides you with the ability (per the Explorica document we forwarded to you in the last email) to either:

  • ● Receive back what you paid less $600 for non-refundable payment to third-party vendors OR
  • ● Receive a voucher from Explorica that can be used on future programs. You can check WorldStrides.com for a list of available programs. Note: These vouchers do not have a cash value and have an expiration date. Initially Explorica had listed that expiration date as August of 2021, but it seems, based on their COVID-19 FAQ on their website to have been extended to December 31, 2022. 

Again, our best recommendation at the moment is to reach out to Explorica regarding cancellations, since circumstances are changing in real time.
