A Letter from our Athletic Director

The 2020 Fall sports season is slated to begin on Monday, September 21st after a unanimous “Yes” vote by the principals of the schools located in the Diocese of Brooklyn. The Archdiocese of New York and the Diocese of Rockville Centre also gave the green light for competition. It will be condensed, with fewer games than usual. Geographic and logistical constraints are being taken into consideration by each league for travel purposes as best as possible.

The following moderate/low risk sports at Holy Cross are slated to play in the Fall:

Boys Soccer
Girls Soccer
Bowling
Cross Country
Sideline Cheer
Flag Football

New York State has created a Fall II season commencing on March 1st for sports that they deem high risk. This season will end on April 24th. Those sports will be:

Tackle Football
Girls Volleyball
Competitive Cheer

Holy Cross will provide socially distant bus transportation to practices and contests when necessary. Sanitizing procedures for the buses are in place. However, and this scenario is not unique to Holy Cross, but all schools- there will be times when student athletes will have to make arrangements for transportation to events on their own.

Winter and Spring sports information will be presented at a later date once those plans are set.

The key is flexibility- all of our member schools are in this together and we are working to provide the student athletes with the ability to compete. It is a fluid situation but we at Holy Cross and other members of the CHSAA/CHSFL are doing what we can to make the best of these uncertain times. Thank you for your cooperation.
