Welcome
President’s Welcome
Dear Holy Cross Family,
Whether you are a prospective student, parent, alum, or a valued member of our extended family, I warmly welcome you to the Holy Cross website–newly designed to better meet our needs. Two years ago, I had the privilege of stepping into the role of President of this remarkable institution. Today, my gratitude, enthusiasm, and joy for our mission have only deepened.
I am thrilled to share that we are embarking on an exciting new chapter in our school’s history. Construction is underway for a state-of-the-art building focusing on Arts, Technology and Athletics—an investment that underscores our unwavering commitment to developing young men and women of faith who excel in every aspect of their lives. This new facility will not only enhance our academic offerings but also provide unparalleled opportunities for our students to explore their passions, whether in the arts or sciences or emerging fields of technology and engineering while taking care of their fitness needs as well.
At Holy Cross, our mission remains clear: to nurture students who are not only academically prepared but also grounded in faith, ready to serve their communities, and equipped to thrive in the world. Excellence is not limited to the classroom; it extends to every endeavor our students pursue, whether they are competing on the field, engaging in service work, or leading initiatives that reflect their values and ambitions.
To prospective students and their families, I invite you to visit our campus, meet our dedicated faculty, and experience the close-knit, supportive environment that has defined Holy Cross for seventy years. Holy Cross is more than just a school; it is a family. A family where every student is known, supported, and encouraged to become the best version of themselves—the person God wants them to be. Here, you will find a place where your voice is heard, your talents are nurtured, and your future is shaped by the values that have guided generations of Knights.
To our alumni, I extend a special invitation to reconnect with us. Your support and involvement are crucial as we build on the legacy that began with the Brothers of Holy Cross. Whether through mentorship, donations, or simply sharing your stories, you play a vital role in shaping the future of our school. As we grow and adapt to meet the needs of today’s students, your continued engagement ensures that we remain true to the values that have guided us since 1955.
The vision of Blessed Fr. Basil Moreau, the founder of the Congregation of Holy Cross, still inspires us: “With eyes of faith consider the greatness of your mission and the wonderful amount of good which you can accomplish.”
Our Mission is indeed a great one, and with the support of all members of our Holy Cross family, we will continue to develop leaders of faith and character who make a positive impact in the world. Let us embrace this mission with renewed zeal, confident in the knowledge that together, we can accomplish great things.
I look forward to seeing you soon and celebrating our great legacy—around the building, at a game, or in the countless places where the spirit and Mission of Holy Cross thrives. Ave Crux, Spes Unica (Hail the Cross, Our Only Hope).
Yours in the Cross,
Mark A. Mongelluzzo ’92

Principal’s Welcome
Dear Holy Cross High School Family:
It is an honor and privilege to serve as Holy Cross High School’s eleventh principal. I remember when I entered the doors of Holy Cross in 1985, I would have never imagined one day I would become the principal. Isaiah 55:8-9 states my plans aren’t your plans, nor are your ways my ways, says the Lord. Just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my plans than your plans.
I grew up in Queens Village, NY after moving to the United States from Port-Au-Prince, Haiti in 1976. My parents worked extremely hard to provide their children with an opportunity to obtain a quality education. Attending Holy Cross High School was one of the best decisions I made in life. I learned so much from my teachers during my tenure and my Holy Cross education provided me with wonderful opportunity to succeed both academically and professionally. I am truly honored to be part of such a caring, compassionate, and hard-working school family.
Returning back as principal is a job I take very seriously. Our mission is to educate young people in the Holy Cross traditions of the Catholic faith and to prepare them for future life situations, remains as important now as it did when the school first opened. I believe it takes a village to raise a child and we are truly a village with teachers, parents, and other community members working together to provide what is best for every child here at Holy Cross High School.
As educators, we have the incredible responsibility and opportunity of not just teaching our children but also to make a positive impact in their lives. I believe in teaching the whole child. This means it is our responsibility to teach and to meet the needs of every child instructionally, socially, and emotionally.
As your principal, I promise to keep students at the forefront of every decision we make as a school. I am excited about working with the faculty, staff, and students of Holy Cross High School to maintain the mission, generate excitement within the community and external constituencies, and mostly, to play a significant role in the betterment of the lives and futures of our students.
I look forward to another amazing year!
Your Proud Principal,
Dr. Weedens E. Blanchard ‘89
