Science
The Science Department believes that an understanding of the living environment and the physical universe is fundamental to our students’ education. In learning biology, chemistry, earth science, and physics, our students apply the scientific method and discover the workings of the natural world. Our faculty employs a hands-on approach in the laboratory where our students conduct experiments, collect data, analyze results, and describe their findings. These exercises provide life-long skills that ensure our students are prepared for college and career.
In addition to the required science credits, the Science Department strongly encourages students to pursue scientific studies by taking one of our elective courses, including Forensics, Meta-Science, or Environmental Science. Advanced Placement courses in Biology and Physics are available to upperclassmen. The Science Department endeavors to impart to our students the wonder and complexity intrinsic to the study of science.
