The World Language Department offers studies in French, Spanish, and Italian. Our goal is to prepare students to be able to work and interact in a global society. Our courses focus on acquiring listening, speaking, reading, writing, and cultural competencies as informed by both New York State Standards and the Standards for Foreign Language Learning in the 21st Century.
Our talented and dedicated teachers are passionate about languages and apply interactive techniques to the language acquisition process. Students taste food from far away places, act out dialogues, write letters, and even travel abroad. These carefully selected activities broaden their perspectives of the world and foster an eagerness to discover the world beyond the classroom.
A celebration of our language studies occurs in May during a week long festival of linguistic and cultural activities. The week culminates in International Night when the student body and their families gather for an international culinary feast.
