Your son has met with his guidance counselor in order to request courses for the 2018-2019 school year. You may review their course requests by logging into Click on Class Registration. This feature is not available using the PowerSchool App. Please review the course selections with your son and make sure his classes are correct and appropriate. If you have any questions, please contact your son’s guidance counselor.

All current juniors, in the class of 2019 in order to attend classes in September will have to supply written confirmation by June 15th of having received a vaccination or a booster for Meningococcal Disease after their 16th birthday. If you have any questions please contact the school nurse at

For the classes of 2019, 2020, 2021 there is a limited amount of financial aid available for the 2018- 2019 academic year. Parents and Guardians must file a Financial Aid Form (with tax records) by May 17, 2018. Information is available from the Business Office, ext. 574. There is a $30.00 application fee.

In the event your son has an end-of-year failure, it must be made-up in summer school in order to return in September. Students who fail more than two courses on the final report card are subject to dismissal. Passing a New York State Regents Exam does not automatically enable a student to pass the class. Similarly, passing a class does not enable a failing New York State Regents score to be ignored. Our school policy is outlined in the Academic Manual & Course Guide located under Academics on the school’s website. Summer School registration starts the week of Tuesday, June 26th. Classes start on Monday, July 9th and finish on Tuesday, August 14th. Regents dates are Thursday, August 16th and Friday, August 17th. For more information, please refer to our website.

Uniform updates and changes, the incoming class in September 2018 will be wearing our new uniform which is black or grey dress pants with the option of white, light or dark grey polo shirts through our new uniform supplier Flynn and O’Hara. Our current students are grandfathered with the current uniform of Land’s End Khaki Pants and the official Holy Cross green polo shirt with the option to wear the new uniform. For complete details see the school website under Student Life – Dress Code/Uniform.

As our nation responds to the security concerns in our schools, the administration of Holy Cross takes the safety of our school community very seriously. We recently upgraded our surveillance system with twenty-two additional high-definition cameras to help provide comprehensive coverage of the school campus. We also have two full-time security personal that are provided through the NYC Intro 65 Bill. We regularly practice fire and safety drills, which include soft and hard lockdowns. During Easter vacation we will be installing an electronic visitors registry log, which will capture photographs and print visitor passes. Over the summer we will be making campus changes that will create a new main entrance with security checkpoint. Our new school entrance will be on the field side of the school. I will continue to update the school community with its progress.

It is my hope that the liturgical season of Easter reminds us of the hope that the resurrection of Our Lord brings. May this Easter season bring about renewed faith and hope, for a successful close to this academic year for our Holy Cross man, your son.

Wishing you and your family a joyous Easter season!
Sincerely in Holy Cross,

Edward Burns
