Prayer for the Summer

As we remain in a summer unlike any we have ever experienced before, we ask for God’s continued protection to see our Holy Cross family through the uncertainty until we all meet again at the start of the new school year. Let us pray:

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen

Loving God, Your love and faithfulness, along with your goodness and mercy, surround our Holy Cross family of believers; so we will not fear whatever might come against us. Humbly we ask that the Light of God surrounds us. The Love of God enfolds us. The Power of God protects us. The Presence of God watches over us. The Mind of God guides us. The Life of God flows through us. The Joy of God uplifts us. The Strength of God renews us. The Beauty of God inspires us.All this, Lord, so that we come to the realization that where we are, God is!

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen

You are in the loving arms of The Father!
Have a Blessed Summer, Holy Cross.

Daily Prayer – Friday, July 3rd

On Monday and Friday of this week, the Catholic Church will celebrate the feasts of the Apostles, St. Peter, St. Paul, and St. Thomas. Our prayer theme this week will be to seek the guidance of those who walked with Jesus through His ministry; healing the sick, feeding the hungry, clothing the poor, and offering witness of the hope that believing in Jesus Christ as the Son of God will bring to each of us. We begin with the Apostle’s Creed.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen

Loving St. Thomas, the Apostle of Christ, as we celebrate your feast day today, we ask for your guidance in our pursuit for the grace that our God so graciously sets before us, but we sometimes fail too often to see. Your grief for Jesus was such that it would not let you believe he had risen unless you actually saw him and touched his wounds. But your love for Jesus was equally great and it led you to serve Him through His ministry. Pray for us that we may spend ourselves in his service and so earn the title of “blessed” which Jesus applied to those who would believe in him without seeing him.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen

O Glorious St. Andrew, you were the first to recognize and follow the Lamb of God.

With St. John, you remained with Jesus for that first day, for your entire life, and now throughout eternity. As you led your brother St. Peter to Christ, and many others after him, draw us also to Him.

Teach us to lead others to Christ solely out of love for Him, and dedication in His service.

Help us to learn the lesson of the Cross and to carry our daily crosses without complaint so that they may carry us to Jesus.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen

O Glorious Saint Paul, after persecuting the Church you became by God’s grace its most zealous Apostle. You are God’s special vessel of election. Through your intercession we hope to receive from Him this special grace: (here make your request). God, you have instructed many nations through the preaching of the Apostle Paul. Let the power of his intercession with you help us who venerate his memory this day.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen

O Holy Apostle, St. Peter, you are the Rock upon which Almighty God has built His Church. Obtain for me I pray: lively faith, firm hope, and burning love, patience in adversity, humility in prosperity, recollection in prayer, purity of heart, a right intention in all my works, diligence in fulfilling the duties of my state of life, constancy in my resolutions, resignation to the will of God and perseverance in the grace of God; that so, by means of your intercession and your glorious merits, I may be forever mindful of the strength Jesus gives me to carry on and endure.

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son Our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into Hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into Heaven, and sits at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and life everlasting. Amen.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
